Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) ne apne Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) ke third aur final developmental flight ko successfully launch kar diya. Ye launch 9:17 am IST pe Satish Dhawan Space Centre se, jo Chennai se 135 km east mein hai, hua.

SSLV-D3 rocket ne primary Earth Observation Satellite, EOS-08 ko apne intended orbit mein Success se place kiya. Is mission mein Space Kidz India ka 200-gram ka SR-O DEMOSAT satellite bhi include tha, jo main payload ke kuch minutes baad successful separate ho gaya. Is successful mission ke baad SSLV developmental flights ka phase khatam hota hai, aur ab commercial launches ke liye stage set hai.

ISRO ne apne official X post mein kaha,

“SSLV ka third developmental flight safal raha. SSLV-D3 ne EOS-08 ko orbit mein precisely place kiya. Ye ISRO/DOS ka SSLV Development Project successfully complete hone ka signal hai. Technology transfer ke sath ab Indian industry aur @NSIL_India SSLV ka commercial missions ke liye production karega.”

SSLV-D3 mission pehle 15 August ke liye schedule tha, lekin ek din ke delay ke baad ye launch 60-minute window ke andar complete hua. Pehli SSLV mission jo August 2022 mein hui thi, apne objectives ko poora nahi kar paayi thi, par February 2023 mein SSLV-D2-EOS-07 ne successful flight kiya.

34-meter tall SSLV rocket ko design kiya gaya hai mini, micro, ya nano satellites ko Low Earth Orbit (LEO) mein 500 kg tak weight ke sath place karne ke liye, jinki altitude 500 km se kam hoti hai. Is rocket mein 3 solid propulsion stages aur ek liquid module as terminal stage shamil hai, jo low-cost access to space, minimal launch infrastructure, aur flexible on-demand launches provide karta hai.

Ek former ISRO scientist ne bataya ki SSLV mission ka cost approximately 20-30% less hai PSLV mission ke comparison mein, aur SSLVs ko planning ke sirf 2 din mein launch kiya ja sakta hai. SSLV ko customer requirements ke hisaab se Sun-Synchronous Orbits (SSO) ke liye bhi use kiya ja sakta hai.

SSLV-D3 mission ke primary objectives mein micro-satellite design aur development, payload instruments ko micro-satellite bus ke sath integrate karna, aur future operational satellites ke liye naye technologies ka test karna shamil tha.

Mission mein following payloads include the:

  • Electro-Optical Infrared Payload (EOIR): Satellite-based surveillance, disaster monitoring, fire detection ke liye.
  • Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry (GNSS-R): Ocean surface winds, soil moisture, Himalayan cryosphere study ke liye.
  • SiC UV Dosimeter: Gaganyaan Mission mein UV irradiance monitor karne aur gamma radiation ke liye high-dose alarm sensor.

EOS-08 satellite ko Circular Low Earth Orbit mein approximately 475 km altitude aur 37.4 degrees inclination pe place kiya gaya hai. Iska mission life ek saal hai aur isme advanced systems jaise Integrated Avionics System, Micro-Dual Gimbal Antenna, aur flexible solar panel shamil hai.

Aage dekhte hue, NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) apna pehla dedicated commercial SSLV launch 2026 mein plan kar raha hai, jisme Australia-based Space Machines Company ka Optimus satellite deploy hoga.
