Monday ko Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) ne RG Kar Medical College aur Hospital ke purv principal Sandip Ghosh ko financial misconduct ke mamle mein giraftaar kar liya. Officials ke mutabik, Ghosh ko 15ve din tak CBI ke Salt Lake office mein poocha gaya, jo RG Kar Hospital ke ek postgraduate trainee ke rape aur murder ke mamle se judi hai jo August 9 ko hui thi.

CBI ke Nizam Palace office Kolkata mein le jaya gaya, jahan unhe anti-corruption wing ke tahat arrest kiya gaya. Jaise hi Ghosh ki arrest ki khabar mili, Kolkata doctor rape case ke khilaf protest kar rahe junior doctors ne khushi manayi.
Hospital ke former deputy superintendent Dr. Akhtar Ali ne Ghosh ke tenure ke dauran financial irregularities ke kai complaints file ki thi. Ghosh ne August 9 ko 31 saal ke trainee doctor ki body seminar hall mein milne ke baad RG Kar Medical College ke principal ka pad chhod diya tha.
Iske bawajood, state government ne turant unhe Calcutta National Medical College aur Hospital ka principal bana diya, jisse students ke beech backlash hua. Calcutta High Court ke intervention ke baad, state government ne Ghosh ko leave par jana pada.
Protest kar rahe junior doctors aur social aur political circles ne Mamata Banerjee ke administration ko Ghosh ko protect karne ka ilzaam lagaya hai, suspension order na issue karne ke liye. Supreme Court ne bhi Ghosh ko criticize kiya tha ki unhone rape case ko suicide ke roop mein dikhane ki koshish ki.
CBI ke investigation ke saath, Enforcement Directorate (ED) bhi Ghosh ke money laundering charges ko dekh rahi hai. Ghosh ne RG Kar Medical College ka principal ka pad February 2021 se September 2023 tak sambhala, aur October mein transfer hone ke baad bina kisi wajah ke wapas wahi position par aagaye.
Dr. Ali ne corruption allegations aur doctor ke death ke beech sambandh ke bare mein concerns raise kiye, yeh suggest kiya ki victim shayad corruption ke bare mein jaanti thi aur silenced kiya gaya.
Ali ki state vigilance commission aur anti-corruption bureau ko file ki gayi complaints se kuch results nahi mile aur unka transfer bhi ho gaya. Unhone Ghosh par illegal activities, jaise unclaimed corpses ka sale, biomedical waste trafficking, aur tender processes mein corruption ka ilzaam lagaya.
August 24 ko, CBI ne Ghosh ko FIR mein naam likha, IPC ke section 120B (criminal conspiracy) aur section 420 (cheating and dishonesty) ke sath saath Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 ke tahat charge kiya. Ye charges cognizable aur non-bailable hain, jaise ek senior Calcutta High Court lawyer ne confirm kiya.
CBI ne M/s Ma Tara Traders, M/s Eshan Café, aur M/s Khama Louha ke khilaf bhi cases register kiye hain. August 25 ko, agency ne Ghosh ke Beliaghata residence par search operation kiya aur rape aur murder investigation ke sambandh mein do rounds ka polygraph test bhi kiya.
